Valspar will officially launch Val OR, a new series of barrier/oxygen-absorbing resin, at the 20th International Conference on PET for Foods and Beverages held at the Nova Pack in the United States in February 2006.

The Vol OR resin is a special polyester that can be used as a barrier/oxygen absorber resin in multi-layer PET bottles, and can also be processed with PET to prepare relatively transparent single-layer PET bottles. Compared with barrier resins for other multi-layer PET bottles, Vol OR resin is not only not easily delaminated, but is itself a transparent resin. Vol OR series resins include grades activated by water vapor and grades that do not require water vapor activation. The target applications are beer bottles, disposable carbonated beverage bottles and containers. At present, Valspar has trial production in the United States and has achieved industrial production in Europe.
