Abstract : This paper reviews the latest development of modern packaging, analyzes the relationship between the development of packaging industry and packaging education, and puts forward suggestions on how to develop packaging education in China.

3) China has already formed a packaging industry system with complete categories, high standards, and reasonable structure.
4) The economic structure of the packaging industry is more adapted to the needs of market economy development.
5) The world's leading multinational packaging companies have come to invest and set up factories in China, accelerating the integration of the packaging industry in China with the international packaging industry.

l Development

The development of the packaging industry is inseparable from the development of new packaging technologies. China's packaging technology closely follows the world trend, and through a large number of introductions, it has formed a relatively complete system and has reached a fairly high level.

1.1 The new packaging technology emerges in an endless stream

There are endless new packaging technologies, such as ultrasonic heat sealing, laser heat sealing, pulse sealing, vacuum packaging, modified atmosphere packaging, and fresh-keeping packaging (such as microporous breathable film or silicon film with fruit and vegetable respiration, biological preservation technology and functional fresh-keeping materials, etc. The development of its packaging processing technology, the transformation of fresh-keeping packaging in the warehouse to the fresh packaging in circulation, the integration of preservation and processing technologies, microwave packaging, edible packaging, aseptic cold filling and aseptic cleaning and filling (ACF), radiation packaging , Anti-rust packaging, stretch packaging, anti-counterfeit packaging, warning packaging, shrink packaging, green buffer packaging, etc., all kinds of modern packaging systems and packaging technology has been widely used in the packaging industry.

1.3 Modern logistics calls for the emergence of new packaging systems

The development of modern distribution centers and e-commerce has brought many new research topics to packaging, making it possible to drastically simplify packaging. 1.4 Constantly updated packaging materials

The continuous updating of new packaging materials has laid a solid foundation for the coordinated high-speed development of the packaging industry. 1.5 Changing the Passive Situation of Packaging Machinery

Efforts are being made to change the long-term dependence of advanced or large-scale packaging machinery and equipment on imports and the main models are basically passive.

1) China's per capita packaging consumption is about 22 U.S. dollars, which is only around 22 9/6 of the world's per capita packaging consumption value.
2) Most of China's packaging companies are small in scale, lag behind in technology, lack capital, have low labor productivity, and have low product quality.
3) So far China has basically no modern packaging systems, materials and products with independent intellectual property rights. Existing advanced packaging technologies, systems, equipment and high-grade packaging materials still have to rely on imports.
4) Most of the packaging industry mimics the packaging structure of similar foreign products. The packaging costs are relatively high and they cannot be scientifically and rationally packaged.
5) China's backward packaging technology has little to do with the country’s investment in packaging research and development.
6) China's packaging regulations are not perfect, and the research and revision of packaging standards lags behind the development of the situation and does not adapt to the new situation after the birth.

3 Thinking.

The successful convening of the Sixth Congress of the China Packaging Technology Association sounded the clarion call for China's move from a big packaging country to a strong packaging country, which brought unprecedented opportunities and challenges to the coordinated development of the packaging industry. China's packaging industry is still largely in the imitation stage. The key is that designers lack the ability to independently innovate and renovate modern design knowledge. Therefore, we must implement the talent strategy immediately.

3.1 Innovative Packaging Process

Today's advanced packaging systems all include innovations in advanced packaging technology. For example, the most recent feature of ultra-high temperature sterilization and cold filling production lines used in the packaging of milk and beverages in China has been its technological innovation, which has led to fundamental changes in the entire structure of the production line. Therefore, packaging system designers must pay great attention to the development of advanced packaging systems, in-depth research on packaging technology, familiar with the latest research results of new packaging materials, according to market demand and domestic actual situation, timely development of advanced packaging suitable for China's national conditions production line. China's packaging technology personnel still lacks independent development capabilities in this area.

3.2 Designing High Speed ​​and Precision Packaging Machinery

Designing high-speed and precise packaging machinery requires designers to have systematic modern design theory and knowledge. However, the course content of the current university mechanical design major in China is only a preliminary basic knowledge, and its depth and breadth are difficult to meet the above design requirements. The most typical example is that although China has been able to design and manufacture many devices in the high-speed beer bottling line, it still does not design and manufacture beer bottle high-speed labeling machines. One of the reasons is that the designers in our country do not master the dynamic design theory and methods of high-speed packaging machinery, and will not solve the problems such as the dynamic accuracy of the mechanism under high-speed working conditions.

The packaging machinery uses a large number of cam linkages as the most reliable and economical transmission mechanism for achieving given motion parameters. Many designers in our country do not independently design and calculate the kinematics and dynamics of the cam linkage according to the work cycle diagram and accuracy requirements. The parameters will only be removed from the camshaft parts of foreign prototypes to perform point-by-point mapping. Those who understand institutional theory know that even if the cam contour coordinate mapping error is only a trace, it may cause the actuator to operate with tens of percent of the error. Some companies have to spend a lot of foreign exchange to purchase foreign cam profile design software in order to produce similar advanced packaging machinery abroad. In fact, the CAD/CAM software of the cam link mechanism we developed has been able to meet the company's ability to independently design cam linkages and has achieved significant results in the use of some companies. However, the designers of most companies still lack the theoretical knowledge of modern institutions, and do not know that such design software has been developed, or reluctant to spend money to buy.

New packaging machinery is often a mechatronic device that makes full use of the latest achievements in information products. Some corporate designers are not familiar with electronic products and are not afraid or will not choose them. Therefore, the level of packaging machinery has been greatly limited. The most typical example is that many foreign new packaging machines mostly use separate transmission, which greatly shortens the drive chain of the whole machine, greatly simplifies the structure, and greatly improves the accuracy and speed of the work. One of its key technologies is the synchronization of multiple motor drives. Technology. In fact, it is not difficult to master this technology, but some designers do not understand this trend of packaging machinery. Another key technology is the large number of servo drives. Old designers do not design and use servos and their control systems. Advanced packaging machinery uses a large number of new detection systems to ensure the stable and reliable operation of packaging machinery, and many of our designers know little about these detection components.

3.3 Developing New Packaging Materials

The development of new packaging materials needs to work together with scientific and technical personnel in packaging engineering and related materials disciplines to achieve effective results. However, our country lacks comprehensive project management talents in this area. They must be knowledgeable in multidisciplinary knowledge such as packaging, materials, printing, machinery and management to be able to assume this responsibility.
