Introducing "5S" to Improve the Management Level of University Research Laboratories
Abstract: This paper presents an analysis of the positive impact of implementing the "5S" management system in a key open laboratory focused on wheat cultivation physiology and genetic improvement at Shandong Agricultural University, which is under the Ministry of Agriculture. By effectively organizing the lab environment, the "5S" approach has not only enhanced the overall image of the laboratory but also significantly improved work efficiency, ensured safety, reduced waste, and accelerated the pace of scientific research. Moreover, it has contributed to the comprehensive development of researchers by fostering better discipline, responsibility, and professional skills. The study highlights the importance of integrating "5S" practices into university research laboratories, aiming to elevate the overall management standards and create a more efficient, safe, and productive research environment.
