Experts explain in detail the five major doubts about geothermal floor

<

Recently, the "floor radiant heating floor standard" has been introduced, the standard has relevant provisions for the relevant floor heating source, floor covering and product selection. However, for consumers, the promotion of materials, thickness, pavement, cushion and other aspects in the market is more or less misleading, so avoid the doubts of “man-made” before buying.

Doubt one

Can solid wood flooring be used for geothermal?

A few days ago, when Mr. Wang selected the floor, the salesman told him that only the wood in the solid wood floor was hard enough to be used in the geothermal environment. The other floor brand Shiyou directly played the "Geothermal King" - the real billboard against the geothermal pure solid wood floor. According to the brochure, the floor has been solved by the “extra high temperature pyrolysis treatment technology”, which solves the problem that the traditional solid wood floor is easily deformed and cracked under the geothermal environment, and the thermal conductivity is greater than 8 °C/h, which meets the national standard. Therefore, it can be fully used in the geothermal environment.

Mr. Wang said that there is still doubt about the use of pure solid wood flooring for geothermal flooring. Is pure solid wood flooring more susceptible to deformation?

Expert statement

Can be used after special treatment

Wang Jun, an expert member of the China National Forest Products Industry Association, said that due to the geothermal environment, the floor needs to withstand a certain amount of heat. When the moisture in the air is absorbed into the wood, the wood will expand. When the air is relatively dry, the moisture of the wood evaporates. The wood produces shrinkage. “Ordinary solid wood flooring is easy to crack and shrink, and can not be used in geothermal environment.” Pure solid wood flooring that can be applied to geothermal environment must be specially treated. At present, there are two ways: high-temperature carbonization, that is, high-temperature heat treatment of the billet of the floor at 160 ° C and 230 ° C, so that the moisture absorption function of the wood is reduced or the influence on the change of air humidity becomes insensitive; the wood is completely closed with paint, that is, paint The outer surface that exposes the wood, including the backing plate and the tongue and mouth, is closed to prevent the wood from coming into contact with the air and to eliminate the influence of humidity on the floor.

If pure solid wood flooring is used in the geothermal environment, the floor should be installed once as much as possible to prevent damage to the closed coating at the floor lock when the floor is repeatedly installed, so that the floor is deformed with changes in air humidity. In addition, before installation, check whether the ground is smooth and flat. If there is convex sand, it should be disposed of to prevent the moisture-proof coating of the moisture-proof film and the floor from being damaged.

Doubt 2

Bamboo flooring is not heat resistant?

Nowadays, bamboo flooring has become a favorite product of many families. Some salesmen say that bamboo flooring is specially treated and suitable for use in geothermal environments. “Bamboo flooring is produced through high-temperature carbonization, so the high temperature is not afraid.” But consumers said that geothermal flooring is laminate flooring and solid wood composite flooring. For bamboo geothermal flooring, I don’t know if I can do it.

Expert statement

Cracking and shrinking seams are more risky

Bamboo flooring usually has two structures: ordinary bamboo flooring (arranged in a forward direction) and three-layer bamboo flooring (vertically aligned). From the point of view of the amount of deformation, the deformation of ordinary bamboo flooring is smaller than that of solid wood flooring, but it is much larger than that of solid wood composite flooring and laminate flooring. Therefore, in the geothermal environment, there is a certain risk in using ordinary bamboo flooring.

However, experts said that if it is a three-layer bamboo floor, it has similar dimensional stability to the three-layer solid wood composite floor. It can be regarded as a solid wood composite floor and can be used for geothermal. However, the moisture content of the surface layer should be controlled below 8%, otherwise the floor surface crack will occur. If it is a carbonized bamboo floor, the stability will be better and the risk will be relatively lower. Of course, if a humidifier or the like is used to ensure that the indoor humidity is kept at 50% 60%, there is no problem in using a bamboo floor.

Doubt three

Does thickness have an effect on thermal conductivity?

In general, the smaller the thickness of the floor, the greater the heat flow. Does the thickness of the floor affect the thermal conductivity of the geothermal floor? Some consumers said that the thicker floor feels better, but the floor thickness of 12mm or more will not cause poor heat conduction, so I do not know how to choose. A brand salesperson said that as long as it is a geothermal floor, it generally meets the requirements of thermal conductivity. Regardless of the thickness, since it is a geothermal floor, there is no problem that affects the thermal conductivity.

Expert statement

Continuous heating is not much different

How to balance between thickness and heat conduction? Experts say that in general, the greater the thickness of the floor does have a certain impact on the conduction of heat, but the "impact is not very large." Whether it is 8mm or 12mm, it can be used in geothermal environments. In contrast, the 8mm floor is faster than the 12mm heat conduction, but in the continuous heating environment, the difference in heat conduction between the two is not obvious; the 12mm foot feels better and the cost is higher. For areas with continuous heating, if the heating system can guarantee the basic requirements of room temperature, you can choose a slightly thicker floor.

In addition, under geothermal conditions, the temperature of the floor is relatively high. As the temperature increases, the formaldehyde release rate of the floor increases. Therefore, the floor with low formaldehyde emission should be selected as much as possible.

Doubt four

Is the three-layer solid wood the most suitable?

The three-layer parquet is a mainstream product of solid wood flooring, which is compressed by three layers of solid wood. In the market, three-layer parquet is recommended by many brands as the most suitable for geothermal heating. Is this true?

Expert statement

Surface moisture content is very important

As a geothermal floor, it is best not to choose a floor that is too wide or too long. The larger the floor size, the larger the gap created in the geothermal environment. In particular, the wide-surface single-layer three-layer solid wood composite floor, if the moisture content of the surface layer is too high during production, will also cause cracking under geothermal conditions. Therefore, as a three-layer solid wood composite floor for geothermal heating, the moisture content of the surface layer must be strictly controlled.

Under geothermal conditions, when the moisture content of the local plate changes, the amount of expansion of the slats is different, and obvious rib-like corrugations appear on the surface of the floor. If the thickness of the three-layer parquet floor is more than 3mm, this phenomenon is not easy to occur. Therefore, a three-layer parquet with a surface layer thickness of 3 mm or less is not suitable as a geothermal floor.

Doubt five

What floor mat is best?

When it comes to geothermal flooring, many salesmen mentioned the floor mat. Kanglong floor sales staff said that they use cork mats, made of pure natural oak skin, not deformed, environmentally friendly, and thermal insulation properties. Shiyou Floor said that the plastic film used in the product is affixed with tin foil paper to “strengthen heat conduction”. In addition, most brands are ordinary mats. Which kind of floor mat is good?

Expert statement

2 mm plastic film is better

Experts said that the foil paper is directly pasted on the floor heating, which acts as a reflection of heat, which not only does not conduct heat, but also hinders the evaporation of heat. If the mat is too thick, it will cause the floor to move up and down, causing the locks to rub against each other, which is easy to produce a sound. Under normal circumstances, the choice of 2 mm ordinary plastic floor mats, can play the role of buffer damping, but also can well block the moisture, does not affect the heat transfer.

Tips

Installation and maintenance should be in place

Suitable for humidity

The normal use environment humidity of the floor should be above 40%, and the optimum humidity is 50% 60%. Because the environment is too dry, it will also cause the dry floor to shrink in winter. Therefore, in the geothermal environment, reasonable adjustment of the humidity of the room is the most effective way to prevent floor deformation.

Care must be taken

When using multi-layer parquet to make geothermal, the thickness of the surface of the floor is 0.6 mm, and the surface compressive strength is relatively weak. If the stool legs in the room are not protected, when the person sits on the stool, the floor will be The surface is crushed.

Temperature should be controlled

Before the floor is installed, the geothermal system should be pressure tested to prevent damage to the floor due to geothermal pipeline leakage. The water supply temperature of the geothermal system should not exceed 60 °C. In the initial stage of geothermal heating, the temperature rise should be gentle. The water supply temperature should be controlled at about 10 °C higher than the ambient temperature at that time, and should not be higher than 32 °C; and should be operated continuously for 48 hours; The water temperature rises by 3 °C every 24 hours until the designed water supply temperature is reached; the ground temperature directly contacting the floor cannot be higher than 42 °C.
